Previously with Langley & Lee, a law firm he co-founded in 1990, Rick built a practice focused primarily on the healthcare industry and general business law, with an emphasis on litigation and business transactions. His 39 years of legal experience, expert litigation skills and the synergy between our client lists, makes him a perfect fit for the Watson Spence team.
A native of Albany, Georgia, he attended Emory University and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law. He is a member of the Dougherty Circuit and American Bar Associations, the State Bar of Georgia, the American Health Lawyers Association, and the Georgia Academy of Hospital Attorneys.
Active in bar association activities, Rick served as President of the Dougherty Circuit Bar in 1987-1988 and is a charter Board Member and Officer of the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He served as Secretary and Board Member of the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, 1992-1993, Vice-Chairman, 1993-1994, and as Chairman of that Section in 1994-1995. He served as a member of the State Bar?s Disciplinary Investigative Panel from 1996-1998, and from 1998-1999 served as its Chairperson. He served on the Formal Advisory Opinion Board of the State Bar from 2000-2001. Rick is certified as Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys and was recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer in 2010,2011 and 2012.
Rick and his wife Marci, an Associate Broker with Coldwell Banker Walden and Kirkland have three grown children, are members of Porterfield United Methodist Church, and serve as active volunteers and supporters of various local charitable organizations.
